Was Google+ a failure? Did people actually use Google+?

Was Google+ a failure? A very good question to learn about but before going to that one must understand the purpose of why it was made, we will be going through some facts about Google+ so that one can understand it better. What service did Google+ served? What were people doing there? Many such Questions in your Mind, so let’s elucidate the whole confusion first.

What is Google+?

Google+ was launched in June 2011 in an attempt to pursue the world of Social Media and excel in the same. It is also designed to link the existing Google’s product like YouTube.

It is like any other social networks wherein one could post photos, tag people, do status updates and interact with the existing networks there. One can activate their Google+ account if they have a Google account. One could make community there and post pictures to one particular community which couldn’t be seen by others.  It has some elements or sections like-

  • Circles- Your social circle with whom you would be sharing content.
  • Hangouts– Video chats and Instant Messaging
  • Huddles and sparks- Huddle was used for group chat while sparks for the saved search to find your interest within Public feed. Both features were canceled later.
  • Google photos- Google photos were used to share pictures which later became a separate product
  • Check in- Was like location Sharing or Location tags but it also allowed your circle to even see your Location even if you haven’t shared. Who would you feel safe to share such location rather than your family? Obviously nobody.

Did people use Google+?

Yes, people used Google+ but not necessarily for genuine use. Google announced initially that this service has around 10 million users just two weeks after the launch. By September 2012 they reached 300 million users and later to 400 million overall users.

Apparently due to some reason Google had to force users to use it in many different ways, one of them was that one could only comment on You Tube if they had a Google+ account. In the same way they tried to bring users to the platform as they were facing huge decline in the number of users. Though there were many people deleting Google+ there were even some who were finding it interesting or useful to use. Most of them didn’t find its features as interesting as some of the existing platforms like Facebook and Twitter. So yes People did use Google+ and there are even some who are still using it.

Yes it was a failure. And Google has also announced that it will soon shut down mostly by April 2019. Let’s know the reason for the same.

Reasons for its Failure.

As mentioned earlier, Google had announced the shutdown of Google+ for consumers. It was made in an attempt to compete with Facebook but failed in the same.  As the users found other social media more interesting than this and hence spend less time on it. Do check Critical Ops hack again.

Google said that the reason for the shutdown is because almost 90% of the users spent only 5 sec on the application.

Moreover, it is also said that it failed due to some initial step that Google took like Google+ was not available for all, one could only join if they were invited by existing users. This made the number of users less and hence there was nobody much on it to interact with. Till the time Google rectified most of them had lost interest in it and had left.

There are also rumors that they are shutting down due to the security fault in the Google+ Users API. It shared some private information of the users to some of the apps that were said as private. Many people are said to affect it. They say that Google had requested not to put this news out in public and hence most of us are unaware of that.

These were some of the reasons for its failure and also for the shutdown of Google+ for consumers.

It is still available for business purposes.  So here we are, master of one more fact, happening around the world for more such interesting article visit our blog.

Why has China’s government banned Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.?

by Qinta 0 Comments

The websites or application that we use every day like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google, Whatsapp, the one on which we rely to do various things throughout the day. It is a part of life and we think that everyone is using the same. But do you know that if by any case you land in China, you won’t be able to use all these applications? Yes, that means in China all these applications are banned and the people living there don’t have access to it.

If it’s so shocking to hear that the application or website we can’t resist using is banned in China then it will surely be in your interest to know the reason behind the ban.

Let’s dig into why all these applications are banned in China.

All the application mentioned above is from western countries and mostly owned by the U.S. So the conflict over these applications is all about the data so called as the ‘’Big Data’’. Confused?

Let me explain, as we all know that all the application that we use, collects our data. For example, if we use Google it traces our personal info, location, etc. Facebook uses our data to find our interest or our daily activities and even YouTube collects the data of the most searched videos. All these apps give you service is free which is not actually free in that matter. If your Instagram account gets hacked then click Instagram account hacked.

All these data are of great importance for them as they use it to sell their product or service to the potential and relevant audience of the market.

The war is for the Data

China is among the top best markets in the world. No companies will miss the chance to showcase their product here or lose the opportunity of getting the Big Data.

So whenever any company wants to launch something like this in China, they have to provide the company with a piece of the same. And to our surprise, they want the big data.

China’s government are even very concerned about their own citizen’s data and even crave for other countries data as it will help them to know any movement taken against them in most part of the world.

So all the owners of these applications are not comfortable with censoring certain data or sharing all the big data to a Country.

And this dispute or demand can only be solved if they just deny giving the data and with that even having their websites or application there. So this is the reason why the Chinese Government does not allow an application like Twitter, YouTube, Google, etc. and hence it cannot be accessed there.

Some more things to know

With this don’t think that they don’t have any such application to access they have an application of their own just like us. So they have their own search engine called Baidu instead of Google, Youku instead of YouTube, Weibo instead of Facebook and finally WE Chat which has many features like Whatsapp and Facebook. And most of us are unknown to the fact that WE chat is the third most used platform in the world.

This has made the Chinese government to preserve their data in their own country and also have been successful to increase economy as there is even We chat marketing through which other markets can showcase their product to all the users of We chat.

With this, we have come to the end of this article and have definitely amazed you with some of the new and interesting facts. Stay tuned for the next.
